Established in 1957, the Baha'i Community of Deerfield has a population reflecting the diversity of the greater Chicago area. The main beliefs of the Baha’i Faith are: 1) there is one God, 2) there is one mankind - we are all members of the human race - and, 3) there is only one religion stemming from an all-loving Creator. That is to say, religion is progressively revealed throughout the ages, bringing to mankind Teachings for an ever-advancing civilization.
For Baha'is, service to others gives life meaning and purpose. Any work or profession carried out in a spirit of service to humanity is considered the highest form of worship. Baha'is envision service to others as the key to realizing a global society that provides true prosperity - spiritual and material - for all people.
Baha’is living in Deerfield have served their community in a variety of ways: as teachers in the local schools: on the Board of Education: as a Village Trustee: as a Police Commissioner: as a landscaper: as a performing quartet, and as a photographer sharing displays of award-winning photographs. Baha’is also participate in the area Clergy Association, sharing ideas and points of view with their fellow - Christians, Jews and Moslems.
Of particular interest to the Baha'is of Deerfield is their planting and maintaining a flower garden at Deerfield's Historic Train Station.
